Aker BioMarine talent among top three marketers in prestigious leader award

Back to news
The Norwegian news website E24 has named Thomas Beadnall Repstad, Aker BioMarine’s Global Technical Marketing Manager, one of the top three marketing leader talents of the year.

E24 highlights promising Norwegian leaders 35 years old or younger who have responsibility for financial results, personnel and decision-making within their companies. The program is in cooperation with consultancy company Mercuri Urval and an external jury.

“I am humbled and appreciative that I was nominated and made it to the top three for the category, it's not something I ever expected,” said Repstad who joined Aker BioMarine in 2017, starting as an intern and has since then held various marketing roles in the Human Health and Nutrition division of the company. Today, Repstad helps lead the global team for Superba Krill oil, a natural dietary supplement with phospholipid omega-3s, choline and astaxanthin, from the pristine waters of Antarctica with proven health benefits. Superba Krill oil is the flagship ingredient from Aker BioMarine.

Graduating from Maastricht University with a Master of Science in Health Food and Innovation Management, Repstad’s background is in nutritional science combined with marketing and innovation.

“My position sits between marketing, science and sales. We have a fantastic product, with great science, and a lot of competent minds working collectively at Aker BioMarine. My role is to help bring this all together by leveraging the science and claims we have for our marketing content, developing our sales team’s product knowledge and helping to steer our new product concepts and innovations in a way that brings the most impact to our industry,” said Repstad.

Branding a superior source of phospholipids

Simo Echchafai, SVP Marketing & Growth in Aker BioMarine, describes Thomas’ role as instrumental in building awareness of krill oil, supporting the company’s sales team and customers in launching and positioning new products in the market.

“He has been working as an ‘orchestra conductor’ engaging the science, regulatory and technical teams to develop a stronger value proposition. Also training our sales teams and customers such as they can understand the competitive advantage of krill oil. Thomas has been successful in combining outstanding technical and scientific insights with deep knowledge of consumer trends and the competitive landscape in the B2B market. Thomas is a strong team player, solution oriented, and always willing to support our sales teams to win new accounts as well as support existing customers. He is charismatic, and his leadership style will help pave the way for his bright future ahead,” said Simo Echchafai.

Global talent organization

Aker BioMarine has a solid track record of developing young, global talented individuals and takes pride in promoting and highlighting their efforts. In 2022, the company employed over 400 people across more than 40 nationalities.

“We go out of our way to think differently about how to attract talented employees — and then challenge them to make a real difference. Together, we have built an international, high-performing, and engaging work environment,” said Hege Spaun, Chief Officer People & External Affairs.
