Aker BioMarine’s involvement focuses on actively engaging with the board sports community, supporting disciplines that align with its values of health and sustainability.

Driving Greater Engagement for an Inclusive Society

The collaboration with the Norwegian Board Association is part of a larger initiative focused on promoting inclusion, particularly through ongoing work with Stiftelsen VI to advance para-sports in Norway. The aim is to support the “One Sport – Equal Opportunities” strategy, ensuring that everyone, regardless of physical ability, has equal access to participate in sports and physical activities.

“To achieve real inclusion, both in sports and the workplace, more stakeholders need to get involved,” said Bjørnar Erikstad, CEO of Stiftelsen VI. “Corporate engagement creates new arenas for inclusion, but we need more organizations to step up to make a lasting impact.”

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), approximately 785 million people with disabilities worldwide are of working age. However, they are twice as likely to be unemployed compared to those without disabilities. This exclusion extends beyond employment, as many individuals with disabilities face significant barriers to participating in sports and physical activities, leading to social isolation and economic disadvantages. Addressing these challenges requires concerted efforts from all sectors to promote inclusivity and equal opportunities.

“When businesses take responsibility, it not only makes sports more accessible but also contributes to creating a more inclusive society,” added Erikstad. Through its partnership with the Norwegian Board Association, Stiftelsen VI hopes to inspire more organizations to support inclusive platforms where everyone can participate, whether in sports or in the workplace.

Expanding Impact Through Sports Collaboration

Aker BioMarine will gain brand exposure through events, arenas, and athletes associated with the Norwegian Board Association. This collaboration is designed to reach both current customers and new audiences interested in health and sustainability.

“We are excited to welcome Aker BioMarine as a new partner,” said Bijora Sardarian, Secretary General of the Norwegian Board Association. “Their dedication to health, sustainability, and inclusivity aligns perfectly with our vision. Together, we aim to not only elevate board sports in Norway but also make them more accessible to all athletes, fostering a more inclusive sports community.”
