Effect of Krill Fishery on Krill Predators evaluated

Aker BioMarine Antarctic announced today that recently released evidence show low spatial and time overlap between Aker BioMarine‘s fishing operations and the foraging of Adelie, chinstap and gentoo penguins. This comes from a report entitled: "Mapping Krill Trawling and Predator Distribution; Mapping Selected Krill Predator Summer Foraging Ranges with Fishing Activity of Aker Biomarine‘s Saga Sea 2007 - 2011"; written by Rob Nicoll with GIS methods and analysis supplied by Lucinda Douglas of the Centre for Conservation Geography.

Aker BioMarine Krill fisheries receives MSC Certification

Aker BioMarine has today received confirmation that its krill fisheries will be certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), an independent, global, non-profit organization that works to promote the best choices in sustainable seafood.
