EAT and Aker BioMarine to promote sustainable aquaculture in Asia-Pacific

Blog overview

We always try to think outside the box when showing gratitude towards our partners. This year, instead of sending the usual Christmas gift to our customers in Aquaculture we made a donation in their name to EAT

The philosophy was to give a gift that reflected the triple bottom line; people, planet and profit.

As a sustainable feed ingredient provider for the aquaculture sector, working with a variety of fish and seafood species – we are on a mission to drive positive change in the industry.

By investing in the promotion of sustainable aquaculture in the Asia-Pacific region, we want to ensure better resource use and combat illegal fishing, as well as provide food security, traceability and quality of the marine ingredients going into fish feed. We also want to drive the future success of our customers that have committed to the highest standards on sustainability. It is a triple win for the planet, society and for business.

“When searching for an appropriate token of appreciation for our partners this year, we wanted to support an organization that has the same value proposition in their DNA as us, which is to improve human and planetary health,” says Matts Johansen, CEO at Aker BioMarine. “EAT’s work on transforming the global food systems to provide healthy and sustainable food that is available and affordable to all, is of enormous value.”

AT EAT WE LOVE FORWARD-THINKING COMPANIES SUCH AS AKER BIOMARINE THAT NOT ONLY IMPLEMENT SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS SOLUTIONS, BUT ACTIVELY ENGAGE IN SYSTEMIC CHANGE, SAYS GUNHILD A. STORDALEN, FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF EAT.

This says Gunhild A. Stordalen, Founder and President of EAT. “We deeply appreciate their support and look forward to our continued collaboration as scaling up sustainable aquaculture will be key to feeding healthy diets to a growing world population.”

The potential for creating shared value by working together has resulted in a collaboration where we have made a donation to EAT of 100.000 NOK on behalf of our QRILL Aqua customers to promote the development of sustainable aquaculture in the Asia-Pacific.

We are experiencing a fast-growing Asian market that will increase the demand for fish feed globally. For us, it is of upmost importance to contribute with what we can towards setting a baseline for sustainable and efficient use of marine ingredients.
